A child, dead for manipulating fireworksA child died and two more have burn injuries for handling explosives during New Year's celebration in Honduras. In Comayagua, Walter Jonathan Maradiaga Santos (10), found an explosive near his house, which he took and put under his right arm.Seconds later, the fireworks exploded cutting off his arm and causing multiple wounds. The child expired minutes later due to serious injuries.Other kids were injured in similar situations in Tegucigalpa and Comayagua.

Fireworks saleDespite local authorities emitting an act against the selling of fireworks, this regulation was not observed by local merchandisers.In Comayaguela's market, fireworks were sold without control, due to the traditional celebration of New Year's Eve in Honduras.Police and military seized fireworks in an effort to stop this illegal activity but were unsuccesful.
